Crowns for Food Hygiene scheme has been developed based on International best practices to assist and encourage food businesses in Sri Lanka to follow good hygienic practices. By registering with the scheme, food businesses will be able train their food handlers and thereby to prepare and serve safe and hygienic food for the customers. Food establishments registered with the scheme will be inspected and categorized according to their hygienic level and will be awarded 1 – 5 crowns. The general public patronizing the food establishments will be able identify crown holding food establishments and dine in without any fear of getting food poisoning.
